공예와 전통생활문화를 널리 알리는 한국공예·디자인문화진흥원과 키뮤스튜디오가 만나 새로운 전통문양 패턴이 탄생했습니다. 특별한 디자이너들은 ‘전통문화포털’에서 제공하는 전통문양 자료를 활용해, 풍요와 행복을 기원하는 한국 전통문양에 키뮤의 유니크함을 더했습니다. 좋은 기운을 담은 신묘한 동물, 새를 문양으로 그려낸 ‘새문’과 강한 생명력을 품은 ‘연꽃문’을 재해석해 새문+연꽃문 패턴을 디자인했습니다. 시들지 않는 아름다움으로 도자, 회화 등 다양한 영역에서 활용되는 ‘꽃문’ 을 스텐실 기법으로 재해석해 패턴 디자인을 완성했습니다. 맑은 향기로 봄의 시작을 알리는 ‘매화문’을 중심으로 ‘꽃문’과 ‘동그라미문’을 혼합해 콜라주 기법의 플라워 패턴을 디자인했습니다. 각 패턴은 마스킹 테이프, 패브릭 포스터, 그리고 양말에 적용되어 소비자들에게 선보여졌습니다.
New traditional patterns were born by KIMUSTUDIO’s collaboration with Korea Craft and Design Foundation. We added another layer of uniqueness to the Korean traditional pattern that implies abundance and happiness. From mysterious animals that represent good energy, birds that symbolize gates and opportunities, and lotus that represent vitality, we reinterpreted them and developed bird-gate + lotusgate pattern designs. Detailed professional art techniques were applied in the making of the new pattern designs, and these have been successful in the market as various forms including masking tapes, fabric posters and socks.
